In the process of doing this,we will involve staff, parents, students and the community through the use of focus groups--small gatherings of 15-25 people who meet with a facilitator to discuss their views about a particular issue. We are asking for your help. Would you please select a representative from the city to participate in a focus group scheduled in early January to discuss the mission of the district? We plan to conduct eight of these focus groups with representatives of the many different constituencies in the school district, and then use their input to develop possible mission statements. The focus groups will last approximately two hours. They will be facilitated by Judy Levasseur Keane, an outside consultant who has worked with other school districts on reviewing and developing mission statements. Please select a city representative to participate in a focus group from 2-4 p.m.,Monday, January 9,at the District Office. Once you have ehosen your representative, please contact my office with his or her r.ame, address and phone number.; (Mailing address: Superintendent's Office,Independent School District 196, 14445 Diamond Path West, Rosemount, MN 55068- 4199; fax number 423-7633;or phone number 423-7725.)
