Approve Plans & Spec's/Authorize Ad for Bid, Diamond Path Watermain Improvements, City Project #267 4 ' CITY OF ROSEMOUNT EXECUTIVE SUMMARY FOR ACTION CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: July 18, 1995 AGENDA ITEM: Approve Plans & Spec'slAuthorize Ad for AGENDA SECTION: Bid, Diamond Path Watermain Improvements Consent City Project #267 • PREPARED BY: Bud Osmundson AGENDA IV��:'Y1 � �} � City Engineer/Public Works Director ATTACHMENTS: Resolution APPROVED BY: City Project #267 involves the construction of approximately 1,500 feet of 12" watermain from 152nd Street and Diamond Path to the intersection of Delft Avenue and Dodd Boulevard on the western part of Rosemount. The Public Hearing was held on May 16, 1995 and the project was ordered. The majority of the funding for the project is to come from the Water Core Fund with approximately $11,000 being assessed to the Wensmann 7th & 8th Additions. The plans and spec's have been prepared by City Staff except for the surveying which was completed by a consultant. At this time the plans and specifications are completed and Staff is requesting approval of the plans and specifications and authorizing an advertisement for bids. The project will be bid on August 11, 1995 and brought back to City Council for award on the 15th of August. The project will take 3-4 weeks to complete and should be completed by late September. The project estimated cost is approximately S 151,000. COUNCIL ACTION: 2 + CITY OF ROSEMOUNT �i, UNTY MINNESOTA '� DAKOTA CO , , RESOLUTION 1995 - A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND AUTHORIZING ADVERTiSEMENT OF BIDS DIAMOND PATH TRUNK WATERMAIN IMPROVEMENTS CITY PROJECT #267 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Rosemount by a unanimous vote have ordered the preparation of plans and specifications for the Diamond Path Trunk Watermain Improvements, City Project #267, and such plans and specifications have been presented to this Council for approvaL• NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Rosemount, Minnesota: 1. Such plans and specifications are hereby approved and ordered plaeed on file in the office of the City Clerk. 2, The City Clerk shall prepare and cause to be inserted in the official City newspaper and the Construction Bulletin an advertisement for bids upon the making of such improvements under such approved plans and specifications for City Project #267. 3. The advertisement shall be published in each of said publications at least once not less than three (31 weeks before the date set for opening bids, shall specify the work to be done, shall state that bids will be publicly opened on August 11, 1995 at 10:00 o'clock a.m. at Rosemount City Hall in said City and that no bids will be considered unless sealed and filed with the City Clerk and accompanied by a cash deposit, cashier's check, bid bond or certified check payable to the City Clerk for five (5%) percent of the amount of such bid. ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS DIAMOND PATH TRUNK WATERMAIN IMPROVEMENTS CITY PROJECT NO. 267 ROSEMOUNT, MINNESOTA NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that sealed proposals will be received at the City Cierk's Office in the City of Rosemount, Dakota County, Minnesota, at the Rosemount City Hall, 2875 145th Street West, Rosemount, Minnesota 55068, until 10:00 a.m. on the 11th day of August, 1995, and will be publicly opened at said time and place by two or more designated officers or agents of the City of Rosemount. Said proposal to be for the furnishing of all labor and materials for the construction complete in place of the following: 1,600 L.F. of 12" Watermain and all appurtenant work Auger/Bore 130' 24" Casing Pipe Proposals arriving after the designated time will be returned unopened. The bids must be submitted on the proposal forms provided in accordance with contract documents, plans and specifications as prepared by the City of Rosemount Public Works Department, 2875 145th Street West, Rosemount, Minnesota 55068, which are on file with the City Clerk of Rosemount and may be seen at the office of the City Engineer. Copies of Proposal Forms, Plans and Specifications for use by general Contractors submitting a bid may be obtained from the City of Rosemount Public Works Department for a non- refundable fee of 530.00. No bids will be considered unless sealed and filed with the City Clerk of Rosemount and accompanied by a cashier's check, bid bond or certified check, payable to the City Clerk of Rosemount for five percent (5%) of the amount bid to be forfeited as liquidated damages in the event the bid be accepted and the bidder should fail to enter promptly into a written contract and furnish the required bond. The City of Rosemount reserves the right to reject any and all bids. No bids may be withdrawn for a period of thirty (30) days from the date of opening bids.
