By doing so, the length of the employee's shift will change, in most instances from 10 hours to 8.5 hours. The police department labor agreement needs to be amended to include an 8.5 hour shift. If Council approves the amendment, a memorandum of agreement will be forwarded to the business agent of Law Enforcement Labor Services, Inc. RECOMMENDED ACTION: MOTION TO AMEND THE 1993-94 LABOR AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF ROSEMOUNT AND LAW ENFORCEMENT LABOR SERVICES, INC. TO REDEFINE ARTICLE 1. 5 TO INCLUDE A 8.5 HOUR SHIFT. LABOR AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF ROSEMOUNT AND LAW ENFQRCEMENT LABOR SERVICES, INC. PREAMBLE This AGREEMENT is made and entered into this day of May, 1993, 6y and between the CITY !3F RQSEM4UNT, hereinafter refened to as the EMPL(�YER, and LAW ENFORCEMENT LABOR SERVICES, INC., hereinafter referred to as LELS, has as its purpose the promotion of harmonious relations between the EMPLOYER, its employees and LELS; the furtherance of efficient governmental services; the establishment of an equitable and peaceful procedure for the resolution of disputes that may arise withaut interference or disruption of efficient operations of the department; the establishment of a formal understanding relative to all terms and conditions of employment. ARTICLE 1 - DEFINiTIQNS 1.1 LELS: Law Enforcement Labor Services, Inc. 1.2 EMPLOYER: City of Rosemount � 1.3 EMFL�YEE: Member of the police bargaining unit as identified by Bureau of Mediation Services, State of Minnesota. 1.4 DEPARTMENT: City of Rosemount P�� Department. �2 '�'-�°� 1.5 WORK DAY: Shall consist of eight (8)�or ten (10) hours as designated. � 1.6 WORK YEAR: The work year is 2,080 hours. 1.7 OVERTIME: Work per€ormed at the express authorization of the Ernployer in excess of the employee's scheduled shift. Authorization is implied when overtime work is performed and approved after the fact. l.$ CITY: The City of Rosemount 1
