Port Authority Commissioner Red Staats has tendered his resignation. It
will be necessary for the City Council to formally accept his resignation. '
Commissioner Staats' term ends on January 1, 1996.
The City Council should also discuss and consider a process for filling ,
Commissioner Staats' vacancy. When there have been vacancies in the past '
on other commissions, the City would place advertisements in the local
newspapers for interested candidates, conduct interviews and then make a I
final selection. This process is in accordance with the City's Committee
Selection Policy. ',
A tentative agenda for Council consideration could be as follows:
April 19: Accept resignation
April 20 - May 7: Publish vacancy in newspapers
May 21: Application deadline
May 26 @ 7 p.m. : City Council interviews and approves appointment.
June 7: New Member starts.
Formal action to set a special council meeting would be necessary once the
Council decides on a date and time.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: MOTION TO ACCEPT THE RESIGNATION OF JAMES STAATS
FROM THE ROSEMOUNT PORT AUTHORITY AND TO SET A SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING TO
CONDUCT INTERVIEWS AND TO SELECT A REPLACEMENT FOR THIS POSITION ON
