Employees would also be allowed to participate in fitness programs such as Jazzercise subject to class size and payment for the instructor's portion of the fee charged to paying customers. This program is offered as an incentive for employees to improve their general health and physical fitness. Some city employees have shown an interest in using the facilities and programs at the Community Center. Jim Topitzhofer and I have put this program together and ask that Council consider approving it. If approved by the City Council, we will keep you updated on how many employees take advantage of the programs and facilities at the Community Center. RECOMMENDED ACTION• C O ROS N TNESS I''� . MOTION TO ADOPT THE ITY F EMOU T FI , PROGRAM I � � CITY OF ROSEM4UNT POLICY TITLE: EMPLOYEE FITNESS PROGRAM POLICY NUMBER: PE-4 PROPOSED BY: ADMINISTRATTON DATE APPROVED BY CITY COUNCIL: PURPOSE The program is offered as an incentive for employees to improve their general health and physical fitness. Employees are encouraged to take advantage of various fitness programs offered at the Community Center. ELIGIBILITY A. Full-time employees B. Regular part-time employees who work a minimum of.20 hours a week. C. Volunteer firefighters D. Police reserve officers E. Temporary/seasonal employees and part-time employees who work less than 20 hours a week may participate on days they work. PROGRAM City employees may participate in open gym and volleyball and use the fitness room at no cost to the employee. Employees may also participate in fitness classes subject to the following: (a) If class size is limited, priority is given to paying customers; (b) the minimum attendance requirement must be made up by paying customers; (c) if instructor is paid on a percentage basis, the instructor's portion of the fee must be paid by the employee. PROCEDURE Before using the Community Center, employees must follow the same procedures as � anyone else using the Center, that is, they must receive an orientation to learn to safely use the equipment and/or register for fitness classes.
