On Thursday, February 3, 1994, Mike Fricke announced his resignation as Building
Inspector for the Ci#y of Rosemount. Mike is leaving after 2'/2 years of employment with
the City to accept a position as Building fnspector for the City of Whifie Bear Lake. We
wish Mike well in his future challenges and career ambitions.
At this point we are asking Councit for authorization to proceed with advertising for the
position of Building Inspector and to proceed with interviews. We wilt come back to the
City Council with recommendation for hiring on April 5, 1994, The attached job
description outlines the primary objective and primary responsibilities of the positian. tt is
the plan to maintain the same range and point value for the new position as the current
position carries.
The anticipated projects for 1994, in both the housing and commercial/industrial areas of
development support that a second posrtion in the field is not only warranted, but is
specifically needed. In 1993, Mr. Fricke perfarmed 3,000 inspections.
Paul Heimkes, Building Inspector, and myself will be analyzing the immediate future needs
for the next 3 - 6 weeks and may be coming to you with a request fior a contract position
to temporarily fill the position vacated by Mr. Fricke. That request, if necessary, would
come before you on the March 2, 1994 regular Council meeting.
I recommend Council's approval for proceeding with the job advertisement and interview
process.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: MOTfON TO ACCEPT RESIGNATION FROM BUILDING
INSPECTOR MIKE FRICKE, APPROVE THE BUILDING INSPECTOR JOB DESCRIPTION,
AUTHQRlZE PLACEMENT OF AN AD, INTERVIEW APP�ICANTS AND COME BACK TO CITY
COUNCIL WITH A RECOMMENDATION FOR HIRING ON APRIL 5, 1994 FOR THE POSITIt�N
OF BUILDING INSPECTOR. �
