RE: Goal Setting Session
At the last meeting of the port authority we discussed goal setting sessions. Specifically that it was
generally agreed we wanted to have a session but the date was to be established for sometime after the first
of the year. We then discussed the need to set a date sooner fro discussion on marketing strategies for the
business park. Since we have been discussing the opportunity to send out RFP's with the help of Sid
Inman of Publicorp it was felt that we should set a meeting for the week of December 12 - December 16.
The date of December 12 was tentatively established but without a start time. The first part of our
discussion on Tuesday should be to reaffum the date and establish a start tune. It is my recommendation to
start at the regular time of 5:15 p.m. on December 12.
the second part of the discussion should then be to set a date and time for a general goal setting session
after January 1, 1995.
December, with its special meetings for council and port authority, has us meeting once a week. 7anuary
will also liave some special meetings for council to interview candidates for appointment or reappointment
to committees and commissions. The exact dates for those meetings (if more than one) have not been set.
I have suggested to some I've talked to that we meet in February after appointments have been made. I
believe we have one seat up for reappointment this year. Some think this is a good time. Others would
like to see it held earlier. This question you will have to decide.
I am suggesting that we hold the session on a Saturday at the Community Center.
One other question to be discussed is whether or not to have a facilitator. I believe a neutral party can help
us derive a good set of goals in the shortest amount of time. If there is anybody on the port authority that
feels they can facilitate a session, we should identify that through discussion.
Please bring your calendars and be prepared to establish date, time, location and facilitator.
