Bob Tabery has undergone surgery, physical therapy and is at a point in his recovery where his physician feels he can return to duty with the fire department on light duty status. The membership af the fire department approved Bob' s xeturn to light duty status at the Februarr 23 regular monthly meeting. That recommendation was forwarded to the fire chief and the city administrator and now the City Council for official action. Because the bylaws require the City Council to take action to grant a medical leave, it seems appropriate that official action be taken to terminate that leave even though it appears to be only a formality since we do have the proper doctor' s documentation. We look for the City Cou.ncil to ratify the fire department ' s action. RECODlEITDED ACTION: Motion to terminate Bob Tabery s medical leave and a11ow him to return to light duty status effective March 1, 1993 . At the regular meeting of the fire department held on February 23, 1993, the membership approved your return to light duty. You can consider yourself back on light duty effective March 1, 1993. The membership,s_recommendaton will be forwarded to the city adminisfrator anTffie city councl for official action. By furnishing the necessary documentation, it could be possible to extend light duty for a total of 90 days. That would mean that your light duty could continue until May 31, 1993. Please continue to furnish the necessary documentation from your doctor at the prescribed intervals as indicated in the light duty policy. During your time on light duty, when you are unable to perform all the duties of a firefighter, it is necessary that some substitute activities be performed. Please contact your captain at your earliest convenience. They have more detailed information as to what would be required of you. It would also be necessary to act as dispatcher as often as possible. dw cc: Steve Jilk, City Administrator Diane Korpela, Finance Greg Smith, Training Assistant Chief Reis Captains File
