The 1994 Ice Ringette Wor1d Championships, hosted by the Rosemount
Community Center and Wakota Arena, was successfully completed on Sunday,
Ma.rch 27, 1994 . Nine days of smooth operation commenced in what many
believe was a significant event for the City of Rosemount . Community
Center and Park & Recreation staff prepared the Community Center adequately
and performed beyond the call of duty to insure a first class operation.
Tournament officials praised City staff for cheerful service. Rosemount
volunteers dominated the leadership and effort put into this world class
tournament. Eight hundred participants, hundreds of spectators, and about
one hundred volunteers rallied to create this once in a lifetime event .
Was it worth the effort? Yes ! Comments were reeeived from many people
about the grand facility that Rosemount offers. The opportunity to show
our community the scope of event our Center can provide was seized upon and
accomplished. This positive perception can not be overstated.
I received several reports from Rosemount business owners stating they
experienced increased business during the tournament. Restaurant owners
showed appreciation for the opportunity to promote their business directly
to each of eight hundred participants & families . A list of Rosemount
restaurants, their locations, and ma.ny restaurant coupons were assembled in
packets and distributed to all the participants. This action brought new
people directly into the business district of Rosemount.
The tournament opening ceremonies, held at the Center on Tuesday, March 22,
were nothing less than spectacular. Rosemount' s own Sheila Klassen
coordinated the event which featured choreographed skating, processions,
the Minnesota State Band, and indoor fireworks. Video cameras capturing
the opening ceremonies will be utilized in the future as a marketing tool
for the Center.
I am very pleased with the opportunity to serve the community of Rosemount
through this tournament and feel the effort was well worth i.

Dear Ringette Volunteer:
The Rosemount City Council would like to thank the many
volunteers that invested their time and energy to make the
International World Ringette Tournament the great success it was .
The coordination needed to accomplish this joint venture with the
City of South St. Paul was tremendous. The City Council also
appreciates the staff time put into making sure everything went
smoothly.
The insights gained into others home life with the team players,
coaches, and interpreters from Finland, Russia, Sweden, and
Canada will be memories to treasure.
Thanks again for going the extra mile and making the World
Ringette Tournament a success . We are proud of our city, state,
and country.
Sincerely,
Mayor E.B. McMenomy
