This is a request for Council consideration to approve Staff's recommendation to hire a
Mechanic II position in the Public Works Department. Authorization for posting and
advertising was approved on April 19, 1994. This is a replacement for the position
vacated by the resignation of Doug Aldrich.
The City received 50 applications for this Mechanic II position. This number was reduced
to 7 people for interviewing through a point system which allocated points for experience
and skills. Staff interviewed 7 people which had excellent qualifications for this position.
It is Staff's recommendation to approve the hiring of Mr. Alan Ryg for this position. Mr.
Ryg has been a mechanic supervisor for Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company and has extensive
experience working on preventative maintenance and all types of machinery. If approved�
� Mr. Ryg will begin with the City on June 27, 1994 at the starting salary of S 13.98 per
hour. Mr. Ryg would begin at this rate and be on a six month probationary period.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: MOTION TO AUTHORIZE THE HIRING OF ALAN RYG AS
MECHANIC II BEGINNING ON JUNE 27, 1994 SUBJECT TO THE PASSING OF THE PRE-
EMPLOYMENT PHYSICAL ANQ DRIVER'S LICENSE CHECK.
