This is a recommendation for the City Council to abolish the position of
economic development coordinator. This abolishment would cause the layoff
of employee John Miller who is the City's Economic Development Coordinator.
Based upon minimal economic development activity, the position cannot be
justified and is not needed. Other city staff, such as myself and the
community development direator, can meet the City's needs without the
economic development coordinator position. Please be advised that the
senior planner position, which the City Council will consider filling this
evening, will not share any of the duties and responsibilities of the
economic development coordinator position and will not replace this
position.
Upon City Council approval of abolishing the position, I will inform Mr.
Miller of this action and provide him with a two week advance written
notification.
, RECOMMENDED ACTION: MOTION TO ABOLISH THE POSITION OF ECONOMIG
DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR AND TO APPROVE THE LAYOFF OF JOHN MILLER WITH A
TWO WEEK ADVANCE NOTIFICATION.
