CITY OF ROSEMOUNT EXECIITIVE SUb�lARY FOR ACTION CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: JUNE 21, 1994 AGENDA ITEM: POCOP PROCLAMATION AGENDA STCTION: CONSENT PREPARED BY: LINDA JENTINK AGENDA N�� � � ADMINISTRATION SECRETARY ATTACI�SENTS: PROCLAMATION APPR D � John Edwards and Sheila Klassen have been working with the Peace Officer Career Opportunities Program (POCOP) sponsored by the Minnesota State Patrol, St. Paul Police Department and the Minneapolis Police Department, in conjunction with Range Technical College, Minneapolis Community College, and Metro State University, and administered by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety. The POCOP board has selected the new Rosemount Community Center facility to hold this first session. John Edwards and Sheila Klassen are asking for the Rosemount City Council to show its support of this meeting by the attached proclamation. RECOb�tENDED ACTION: MOTION to proclaim support of the selection for a meeting site of POCOP as the Rosemount Community Center/National Guard Training Center. Rosemount,MN � Y g� g p 55068-OS 10 Phone:612-423-441 t Fax:612-423-5203 PROCLAMATION POCOP DAY - June 21, 1994 WHEREAS, the Peace Officer Career Opportunities Program, (POCOP), is a progressive and collaborative training program for peace officer candidates sponsored by the Minnesota State Patrol, the St. Paul Police Departrnent, and the Minneapolis Police Department, in conjunction with Range Technical College, Minneapolis Community College, and Metro State University, and administered by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety; and WHEREAS, the first session of POCOP will begin June 22, 1994, and run through November 5, 1994, and will be attended by 70 candidates selected from a nationwide search; and WHEREAS, upon��successful completion of POCOP, these candidates can become licensed peace officers in the State of Minnesota scheduled to serve with the Minnesota State Patrol, the Hennepin County Sheriff's Department, and the police departments of the cities of St. Paul, Minneapolis, Eagan, and Richfield; and WHEREAS, the POCOP Board of Governors has selected the new Rosemount Community Center/Minnesota National Guard Training Center facility to hold this first session. BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED, that the City of Rosemount is proud to host POCOP and welcomes POCOP to this new facility; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that in celebration of this effort, proclaims June 21, 1994, as POCOP Day in the City of Rosemount.
