During the past month, city staff inembers have been cleaning and organizing
storage rooms, buildings and our departments. In doing so, we have put
together a list of items that are no longer useful to the City. Many of
the items on the attached list are quite old and outdated such as the
office equipment. Other items do not meet OSHA requirements, and some of
the items are just not used anymore and are taking up storeage space.
This is a request for the City Council to declare the attached list of
items as surplus equipment.
Staff feels the most of the maintenance equipment and vehicles can be sold
to dealers or local companies or to salvage companies. The computers and
office equipment can be sold to office equipment companies for parts. Some
of the office equipment and software packages may have to be thrown away.
If an item cannot be sold in this manner, we may also run advertisements in
our local papers or keep until next year's city garage sale. The 1962 Ford
pumper and perhaps some of the other equipment will be advertised in the
League of Cities "Bulletin" and sold on a bid basis.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: MOTION TO DECLARE THE ATTACHED LIST OF' ITEMS AS
SURPLUS EQUIPMENT AND TO DIRECT STAFF TO DISPOSE OR SELL THE EQUIPMENT.
