This is a request for Council consideration to approve Staffs recommendation to hire an
Engineering Technician in the Public Works Department. Authorization for posting and
advertising was approved on June 7, 1994. This is a replacement for the position
vacated by the resignation of Boyd Bailey.
The City received 59 applications for the Engineering Technician position. This number
was reduced to 6 people for interviewing through a point system which allocated points
for experience and skills. Staff interviewed 5 people which had excellent qualifications
for this position.
It is Staffs recommendation to approve the hiring of Mr. Mark Fremder far this position.
Mr. Fremder has considerable construction and Engineering Technician experience. He
also has excellent qualifications in the area of computers and has an excellent work
history as an Engineering Technician for the City of Prior Lake for the last three years.
If approved, Mr. Fremder would begin with the City on August 22, 1994 and would have
a 6 month probationary period.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: MOTION TO AUTHORIZE THE HIRING OF MARK FREMDER AS
ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN BEGINNING ON AUGUST 22, 1994 SUBJECT TO THf PASSING
OF THE PRE-EMPLOYMENT PHYSICAL AND DRIVERS LICENSE CHECK.
