Tom Burt AU 1 2199 Rosemount City Administrator 2875 145th St. W. t',rFTY vt' nvuLmOUNT Rosemount, MN 55068 Dear Tom, I'm writing to ask for your assistance in helping the district make the very important decision of where to locate our fourth high school. We are setting up a task force to review site options and the impact of those options on attendance boundaries, and we would like a Citv of Rosemount Council Member or staff inember to serve on the task force. Some background information may help you select an appropriate representative. Since December 1993 when the Board of Education approved the bond proposal that included a fourth high school, we have been gathering information on potential sites. We have analyzed projected demographic trends, explored the impact of different locations on school boundaries and made initial contacts with the owners of sites. So far we have identified several sites that we believe would be viable. However, because the school's location will have a major impact on our communities (through changes in school boundaries, land use, infrastructure and other factors), we need input from a representative group of residents, community officials and staff before making a final decision. Therefore, we are establishing a High School Site Selection Task Force of 40-50 members, including parents, staff, students, city representatives and Board of Education members. The task force will be charged with: • Establishing criteria for selection of a site; • Investigating all site options; Recommending several sites to the Board of Education, and • Reviewing the potential impact of the site options on new attendance area bcunares for *.Y.e fowr ruh shco?s. The task force will meet three or four times in late August and September, and report to the board in October. We believe it is important that the City of Rosemount have an official representative on this group. We would appreciate receiving the name, address and telephone number of your representative no later than August 17. Thank you very much for your assistance. Please call if you have any questions.
