On Friday, September 3Q, 1994, bids for the referenced project were received and read
aloud publicly. Five (5) bids were received and are listed for your review on the attached
bid tabulation. Bids ranged from 5289,750.14 to 5383,039.11 . .
The apparent low bid received is from Richard Knutson, Inc. (RKI), 125$5 Rhode Island
Ave. So, Savage, MN, in the amount of $289,750.14. The engineers estimate was
5360,000 based on 1994 construction costs.
Staff added two small projects to the Schwarz Project for bidding purposes. One was the
improvements required to construct the south parking lot at Jaycee`Park adjacent to the
Shannon Pond Additions. This was to be funded by Park Dedication. Prior to any work
on this parking lot, the Park and Recreation Committee will approve the cost. The second°
addition was the repair of the watermain cross connection to Apple Valley which broke
last winter. Apple Valley will split this cost with Rosemount.
The engineers estimate for the Sehwarz Project was 5286,000, while the low bid from
RKI was 5213,465. The Jaycee Park Proje,�t estimate was 559,200, RKI bid was
553,725. The Diamond Path Interconnect estimate was 515,200, RKI bid was 522,560.
Staff recommends all of these projects be awarded.
This is based on the information Staff has available at this time. If there is a mistake on
the bids which changes the recommendation, Staff will provide the correct documents at
the Council meeting.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: MOTION TO ADOPT A RESOLUTION RECEIVING BIDS AND
AWARDING CONTRACT, SCHWARZ POND STORM DRAIN OUTLET AND MISCELLANEOUS
IMPROVEMENTS, CITY PROJECT #259.

A RESOLUTION RECEIVING BIDS AND AWARDING CQNTRACT
FOR SCHWQRZ POND STORM DRAIN OUTLET AND
MISCELLANEOUS UTILITY IMPROVEMENTS
CITY PROJECT 259
BE IT RESOLVED,`by the City Council of the City of Rosemount, Minnesota, as follows
1 . All bids on construction of Schwarz Pond Storm Drain Outlet and Miscelianeous
improvements are hereby received and tabulated.
2. The bid of Richard Knutson, Inc. in the amount of 5289,750.14 for the
construction of said improvements in accordance with the plans and
specifications and advertisement for bids is the lowest responsible bid and shall
be and hereby is accepted.
3. The Mayor and Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract
with said bidder for the construction of said improvements for and on behalf of
the City of-Rosemount.
4. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to return forthwith to all
bidders the deposits made with their bids, except that the deposit of all
successful bidder and the next two lowest bidders shafl be retained until a
contract has been executed.
