The City Council is being asked to adopt a resolution supporting an
application for a Service Budget Management Model Grant that would provide
funding for the High Speed Bus Project< The project is being supported by
a coalition of cities includi�g Richfield, Bloomington, Edina, and
Lakeville. Dakota County and the Minnesota Valley Transit Authority (MVTA)
have also joined the effort.
Rosemount, along with the other five cities participating in MVTA a�e asked
to show support as local units of government. The High Speed Bus Project
is intended to provide a higher level of transit service across the metro
area that would be independent of Light Rail Transit (LRT} and provide city
to city transit along existing highway corridors.

RECONIl�iENDED ACTION: Motion to adopt a RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF AN
APPLICATION FOR SERVICE BUDGET MANAGEMENT MODEL GRANT.

A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF AN APPLICATION
FOR SERVICE BIIDGET MANAGEMENT MODEL GR.ANT
WHEREAS, reducing congestion on highways and local streets is a
high priority for communities throughout the metropolitan area;
and
wHEREAS, the cities of Richfield, Prior Lake, Savage,
-- Bloomington, Apple Valley, Eagan, Rosemount, Edina, Lakeville,
Burnsville, the Minnesota Valley Transit Authority, and Dakota
County have joined in an effort to provide planning and
implementation services related to a high speed bus effort; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Government Innovation and Cooperation has
reques�:ed grant proposals from Iocal units of government; and
�TFiEREAS, the High Speed Bus Project clearly qualifies for the
grant as indicated by the criteria established by the Board of
Government and Cooperation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City
of Rosemount, Minnesota as follows:
Section 1. That the Tnterim City Administrator is hereby
authorized to execute an application form for service budget
management model grant.
Section 2 . That the Mayor and City Council hereby encourage
favorable consideration of this grant request .
