As a result of the outcome of the Fire Station referendum there was
discussion to establish a task force to determine what necessary steps to
take on the issue of building needs. I have meet with the Fire Chief and
he and the firefighters prepared the attached Mission Statement.
Recommendation:
Advertise for volunteers to serve on a fire service task force. The
following schedule will be followed:

Advertisments in local newspapers: May 18 - May 28
(two weekends) ,
Deadline for volunteers to apply: June 1
Appointment of task force members by City Council June 7
RECODIl�IENDED ACTION: Nit�TION to adopt the Mission Statement for the Fire
Service Task Force and follow the recommended schedule.

for the
CITY OF ROSEMOUNT
MISSION STATEMENT
The Fire Service Task Force e�sts for the purpose of analyzing and evaluating the present
and future needs of the city of Rosemount with respect to its fire service delivery systems
and necessary resources.
A task force shall rneet one to two times monthly on the first and/or third Thursday of the
month.
Members of the Rosemount Fire Department and city staff shall act in a liaison/resource
capacity to the task force.
The mission of the task force shall be considered complete when they have made
recommendations to the city council as to a plan for the mast appropriate delivery system and
resources needed by the city, and have implemented a method to carry out that plan.
The scope of the committee shall include:
• An evaluation of the current fire station with respect to its size, location, and
the ability of the fire department to deliver services from this facility at the
present time and in the future.
• An exploration of the multi-concept versus the main staxion approach to fire
service delivery and the appropriateness and effectiveness of each for the city
of Rosemount.
• An evaluation of the most appropriate location(s) for the fire service facilities
at the present time and in the future.
� A determination of the present and future space needs of the fire department.
� A review of the various funding mechanisms avaala.ble ta the city, and the
appropriateness and cost effectiveness of each mechanism.
• The dissemination of information and education of the citizens of Rosemount
as to the city's fire service needs and the most appropriate means to
accomplish meeting those needs.
