This zoning text amendment originated with a citizens inquiry to a Council member
regarding setbacks for dog kennels (and runs). The Zoning Ordinance has no
standards for kennel setbacks. Research showed that no other Dakota County
City had such standards either. After further internal discussion occurred, a
simple approach was arrived upon that is consistent with accessory structures
such a small storage sheds.
On October 25 and November 8, 1994, the Planning Commission reviewed the
test amendment and recommended approval at the second meeting.

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMOUNT,MINNESOTA ORDAINS AS�OLLOWS:
SECTION L Section 4.10 A1vIMALs of Ordinance B - City of Rosemount 2oning
Ordinance is amended by addingthe following:
B. 3. f. Enclosures confining domestic animals to an area of less than half of a rear
yard area must con£orm with the property line setback standards for accessory
buildings (Section 7.2.A.6).
SECTTotv II. This ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its passage and
publication according to law.

NOTICE IS HEREBY G�IVEN, the City Council of the City of Rosemount willhold a public
hearing to consider the item listed below on Tuesday, December 6, 1994 in the Council
Chambers of the City Hall, 2875 145th Street West, beginning at 8:00 p.m. or as soon
thereafter as possible.
The purpose of this hearing is to consider a text amendment to Ordinance B - City of Rasemaunt
Zoning Ordinance that will establish standards and setbacks for enclosures confining domestic
animals.
A copy of the proposed amendment is available for review and comment at City Hall located
at 2875 145th Street West, between the hours of 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through
Friday.
Persons wishing to speak on the proposed amendment are invited to attend this public
hearing on Tuesday, December 6, 1994 at 8:00 p.m. Forntal wnitten comments will also be
accepted prior to the meeting date. Please forward all comments and inqturies to the
Planning Department
