On January 10 the city council held a joint meeting with the planning
commission and port authority. The subject af the meeting was
consideration of an amendment to the city' s zoning ordinance that would
create a "business park zoning district. " Most of the commissioners
attended.
At the meeting the draft proposal relying on extensive lists of permitted
uses was discussed. In addition Rick Pearson, the city' s assistant
planner, and I suggested an alternative of using "conditional uses" if the
proposed draft was not accepted.
After considerable discussion, there seemed to be majority agreement from
the elected and appointed officials attending that the original proposal of
permitted uses was the most workable alternative.
Mr. Dunn asked that this item be placed on the work session agenda. He is
loo}�ing for reaffirmation that the draft amendment emphasi.zing permitted
uses is that preferred by the members. And it should be emphasized that
Mr. Dunn supports that position.
