AQUATICS
Attached is a letter from Peter Schrock, president of Southern Minnesota
Aquatics, indicating a desire to purchase two acres of land in the
Rosemount Business Park. In visiting with Mr. Schrock, I have learned that
the site would become the permanent home for a swimming instruction school .
Construction would be masonry.
Mr. Schrock has indicated he is willing to purchase land for 23 cents a
square foot with cash. He has also stated that he is willing to accept an
"allocation" for utilities of $1 .50 per square foot to be paid over a ten
year period. Total price of the two acre parcel then would be $150, 000 .
Here is the issue. Mr. Schrock, who is willing to purchase the land this
summer, wishes to delay construction until spring of 1997 . This issue of
buying now and building later was originally raised by Arlo and Renee
Rhoads and has not yet been resolved by the commissioners .
I believe this will be one of several business park issues addressed at the
port authority' s special meeting scheduled for February 28 . Mr. Schrock
will be present at the March 2 meeting to provide you with additional
information. Building plans have been sent from Adelaid, Australia and
Schrock hopes to have them for the meeting.
RECOIIIriENDED ACTION: Follow policy developed at February 28 meeting.

The Family Swim School's philosophy in learning to swim well is that it should be a
part of children's " education for life ". Our concept in instructional swimming
incorporates a quality learning atmosphere. We combine a warm water environment
and class size of 4 or less. The instructor staff is well trained in teaching children first
and swimming second.
The Family Swim School owner, Peter Schrock, has 20 years of aquatic coaching and
teaching experience. The school has grown into an " Aquatic Educational
Development Center ". Many children who start with the school as infants, continue
swimming with us, working their way through our program's:flow as they grow.
Swimming being an integral and enjoyable part of a family's routine is central to the
Family Swim Schoot's philosophy.
Water education resembles scholastic education in part because of the process.
Learning a long term skill as swimming, in a few weeks during the summer, is
expecting a lot. Most of our clients approach our program from an extended seasonal
approach to year round participation. This consistent and relaxed exposure to the
water is key to making swimming an enjoyable part of your family's lives.
A swimmer of any age ( 7 months to adult ) and ability can enter our program and find
an appropriate class any time of the year. Development of skills is acquired over an
extended period . For this reason several classes are available that children can
progress through in development of their swimming skills.
Classes are available 10 months of the year, at our Eagan School, with sessions
consisting of 8 half hour lessons. Our Savage School operates February - May and
October and November. The Family Swim School incorporates the " Gus and
Goldie " Safety Spokefish into the program as part of our curriculum of safe
swimming skills. The school is also a member of the National Swim School
Association which promotes integrity with swim schools internationally.
You must first have an enjoyment of and love for the water before you can pass that on
to someone else. Peter and the staff convey this to everyone that pass through the
program. Swimming, it a lifetime event, and the Family Swim School is the right place
for this lifelong activity to commence.
