Site CITY OF ROSEMOUNT EXECUTIVE SIINiARY FOR ACTION PORT AUTHORITY MEETING DATE: MAY 4, 1994 AGENDA ITEM: PRESENTATION FOR REDEVELOPMENT AGENDA SECTION: OF REPAIRS INC. SITE OLD BUSINESS PREPAR.ED BY: JOHN MILLER, AGENDA NO. ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR 4 . A. ATTACIlENTS: CORRESPONDENCE TO INTERESTED APPROVED BY: DEVELOPERS, CORRESPONDENCE FROM GEORGE BOOMER Previously the port authority had received two proposals for the redevelopment of the Repairs Inc. property. In addition, Karl Biewald and George Boomer Jr. had expressed interest in redeveloping the property for office use. In response to the Biewald-Boomer inquiries, the commissioners allowed the two men 30 days to study local market conditions . It was understood that if their market study showed a need for office space in the city, they would make a proposal to the port authority to redevelop the Repairs Inc. site. Attached for your review is a letter from George Boomer Jr. advising the board of the efforts to find users for office space. Unfortunately, Biewald and Boomer were unable to identify tenants and they have declined further participation in the redevelopment. ' It is my understanding that both White Funeral Home and Shamrock Animal Hospital are still interested in the site and will appear before you on May 4 . Please see my letter of invitation to them. At the April 5 meeting the commissioners established a schedule for evaluating the Repairs Inc. proposals . The board will hear a formal presentation from the two parties interested in the project on May 4 . And, at this time, the board members will have the opportunity to ask direct questions about each proposal . In following the request of Commissioner Busho, the board set May 17 as the time for a decision on the proposals . A review of the proposals with emphasis on financial benefit for the city will be prepared by the port authority for the May 17 meeting. RECO1IlrIENDED ACTION: None. Discussion item only.
