Back at the August 17, 1993 council meeting we started the process of
hiring three new firefighters for the Rosemount Fire Department by
receiving authorization from the city council. At that time we had ten
applications on file.
The first step in our selection process is to provide an orientation
meeting to all applicants who are interested. We do this because people
often times have misconceptions as to what a position with a volunteer fire
department entails. After the orientation meeting we scheduled the next
phases of the selection process which include a written test, an agility
test, and an oral interview. Five of the ten applicants showed up for that
portion of the screening process. When the process was complete, three
persons had successfully completed all phases of our hiring process. Those
three persons were contacted and informed that they would be hired by the
city for a position on the fire department upon successful completion of a
doctor's physical which was to be administered by Dr. Detlefsen, our city
physician. Upon completion of Dr. Detlefsen's screening, Dr. Detlefsen
indicated that two of the applicants would satisfy the medical requirements
to be a firefighter and he has given two of three persons that he examined
a clean bill of health.
The persons listed below are those that have successfully completed and
fulfilled all the requirements of the city in order to be hired on a
probationary basis as a firefighter.
