SUBJ: Search Firms/Process for New City Administrator -
Interim Administrator
At your direction I contacted Jim Mi11er, Executive Director of
League of Minnesota Cities, to obtain names of search firms for
the city administrator position.
Mr. Miller provided the following names and brief comments about
each firm. He advised that although the League cannot endorse
consulting firms, he said that he has had first hand experience
with these firms and believes they would do a very good job.
(1) Jim Brimeyer, Hopkins, Minnesota 945-0246.
Firm has provided recruitment services for a number of
cities ranging in size from Minneapolis to smaller cities.
(2) The Par Group, Chicago, Illinois (708} 234-0005. Contact
Person is Paul Reaume.
Firm has done an extensive number of recruitments, large and
small. As city manager at Minnetonka and other cities, Mr.
Miller has hired this individual and does a good job.
(3) Jensen, Oldani & Cooper, Belleview, Washington. (206) 451-
3938. Contact Fersons are Jerry Oldani or Jan Cooper.
Firm has done recruitments for communities the size of
Rosemount. Did recruitment work for St. Louis Park.
Mr. Miller said the processes these firms use are remarkably
similar with regards to involvement of staff, council and
community members.
The estimated timeline is approximately six months after
selection of search firm.
Estimated cost is $10,000 to $15,000 plus eenses.
