This was after considerable di�cussion on possible im rovements to Dodd Road. MnDOT has recently completed the speed study and it has determ�.ned a reasonable and safe speed for the referenced street. MnDOT has determined that the speed limit should be se at 40 m.p.h. between 120th Street and Trunk Highway 3 . This spee limit is contingent upon the appropriate signage being installed for urves and intersectian with appropriate warning signs per th.e' Minne ota Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices . Our next plan of action is �o send a memo ou to interested people (and Council) along Dodd Road informing them of the MnD�T speed study. The memo will include information on traffic counts and studies that Staff has completed on Dodd Road. We will e courage that the neighborhaod group get together and come }aae to Staff with a mutually agreed upon action as to future improvements to Dodd Road. We will then come back to Council with their request Staff continues to recommend that improvemen s to the road should be considered only if they meet or exceed City tandards for this type of roadway. Staff recommends that Council adopt a resolu ion to set the sgeed limit as stipulated by MnDOT. COUNCIL ACTION: 7 � a CITY OF ROSEMOUNT DAKOTA COUNTY, MtNNESOTA RESOLUTtON 1993 - A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING SPEED LIMITS ALONG DQDD Bt3ULEVARD FROM 120TH STREET SOUTH TO STATE TRUNK HIGHWAY 3 {SOUTH ROBERT TRAIL) WMEREAS,State law authorizes only the Commissioner of Transportation to set speed limits along public streets and highways that don't fall under the "Urban District" classification as defined in M.S.L. 169.01, Subdivision 59; and WHEREAS, the City of Rosemount is concerned for safety of its residents living along and traveling these streets; and WHEREAS, the City of Rosemount requested the Cammissioner of Transportation to conduct a speed study on Dodd Boulevard from 120th Street South to State Trunk Highway 3; and WHEREAS, the Minnesota Department of Transportation has conducted such a study and its results are now known. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Rosemount, Minnesota: The speed limit on Dodtl Boutevard (Raad) from Trunk Highway 3 �South Robert Trail) to 120th Street shall be 40 mites per hour. Please keep this authorization in your permanent files, we have our necessary copies. � Erection of signs shall be in conformance with the 1991 Minnesota. Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. � Note the contingency on the authorizations. This must be met before the regulaxory speed limit signs are erected or changed. Changes aukhorized herein are in accordance with dinaesota Highway Traffic Regulation Act, M.S. Chapter 169.14 and applicable subdivisions thereof. 40 miies per hour between the intersection with Trunk Highway 3 and the intersection with 120th Street. NOTE: _ The above speed limits are authorized cantingent upon curves and hazards being signed with the appropriate advance curve ar waming signs, including appz�opriate speed advisory plates. The raadway described above shall be reviewed for traffic control devices impacted by the authorized speed li.mits before posting the signs. Warning signs and speed limit signs shall be in conformance with the Minnesota Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. The abave speed Iimits are based on roadway conditions on the date of this authorization.
