Cities in Minnesota are required annually to appoint an official weed
inspector. Also, based on state law, the Mayor in statutory cities is the
designated person to hold that position. So that administratively we can
provide staff support to this position, we normally appoint the person most
likely and with the best position to handle weed ordinance enforcement.
That person is our Public Works Director. It is necessary to take official
action to designate the Ma.yor and his assistant.
RECONIl�lENDED ACTION: MOTION TO APPOINT MAYOR EDWARD B. MCMENOMY AS WEED
INSPECTOR FOR 1993 AND TO APPOINT PUBLIC 'WORKS DIRECTOR RON WASMUND AS
ASSISTANT WEED INSPECTOR FOR 1993 .
