The City Council approved the expansion of the police department by hiring
two additional patrol officers during 1993 .
One officer is to start employment on April 1, 1993 and the second officer
is scheduled to start on Oc�ober l, 1993 .
With the addition of these officers, the City will have two officers on
duty after 3 : 00 a.m.y7 days a week. '
The hiring process can take 60 to 90 days before a recommendation can be
brought before the City Administrator and the City Council . Therefore, I
am requesting approval to begin the hiring process by contacting the (MPRS)
Minnesota Police Recruitment System for a list of qualified police officer
candidates .
My intentions are to repeat this procedure for the second officer during
July of 1993 .
RECOMMENDED ACTION: MOTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CHIEF OF POLICE TO SEEK
QUALIFIED POLICE OFFICER CANDIDATES FROM THE MINNESOTA POLICE
RECRUITMENT SYSTEM (MPRS) FOR THE PURPOSE OF HIRING ONE POLICE OFFICER
TO BEGIN EMPLOYMENT ON OR ABOUT APRIL 1, 1993 .
