WH'ERF•AS, plarzning ahead and practicing can greatly enhance aur ability to escape from
fxre; and
WSEREAS, the value of escape planning at home, at work, and wherever we are is well
documented; and
tiYHERF•A.S, every fire escape plan should'include a meeting place outside where everyone
can be accounted for arzd await the fire department; and
WSEREAS, firefighters are trained and equipped to rescue people trapped insiate burning
buildings, it is important to teach children that "Get Out, Stay Out!" is th�fire safe
response; and •
tii'BEREAS, the Rosemount Fire Department is dedicated to the safety of life and property
from the devastating effects of fire; and
��&[1�RF.�iS, the meznbers of the Rosernount F'ire Deparlment are joined by concerned
citizens of Rosemount, as well as businesses, schools, service clubs and organizalions in
their fire safety efforts.
NOji', TSEREFORE, I, E. B. McMenomy, Mayor of the City of Rosernount, do hereby
procla.im the week of October 3 through October 9, 1993 as
"FIRE PREVENTION WEEK"
in the City of Rosemount, and I call upon the people of Rosemount to purlicrpaie in fire
prevention activities al home, work and school, and to hear the message: "Get Out, Stay
Out!".your;fre safe response, as fhe 1993 Fire Preuention Week theme suggests,
This week commemorates the grea.t Chicago fire of 1871, which killed 250 persons, left
100,000 homeless and destroyed more than 17,400 buildings.
