Attached is a copy of a transfer to be considered by the Council for their
approval . The transfer is to close out funds for the Chippendale Avenue
project that were not spent as originally bonded for. Originally, the
praject was issued in two parts, half in 1988 and half in 1989 . Subsequent
to the issuance of the debt, the project was scaled down leaving more debt
issued than necessary for the project. By closing out the debt issued -in
- 1988 and returning those funds to that Debt Service Fund, there will be
sufficient funds available to call those bonds in February of next year (the
first year the 1988 bonds can be called) . By calling these bonds, the City
will realize a savings of $232, 750 over the remaining life of that debt
issue. The money would have to be transferred back to one of the two Debt
Service Funds anyhow, and making this transfer will allow the City to save
itself a substantial amount of money.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: .
Motion to approve the attached fund transfer as presented.
