an administrative fee increase for driver's license and DNR

RESOLIITION 1993 -
A RESOLUTION SUPPaRTIN� AN ADMINISTRATIVE FEE
INCREASL FOR DEPIITY REGISTRARS.
WHEREAS, the Minnesota Legislature has not increased the $1.00
admznistrative fee for processing drivers licenses sinee 1973; and,
wIiEREAS, the 5Q cent administrative fee for processing Department of
Natural Resources licenses such as boats and snowmobiles has not been
increased since 1971; and,
WSEREAS, the cost of living index {CPI) has increased more than 20
percent during the past 2fl years; and,
WHEREAS, public and private deputy registrars which provide drivers
lieenses `and DNR iicense services ta the public lose money` on each
transaction because the administrative fee has failed to keep pace •
with inflation; and,
WHEREAS, the administrative deput� registrars fee charge far handling
motor vehicle transactions has increased from 75 cents to $3 .50 during
the same 20 year time period; and,
WIiEREAS, the membership af the Minnesota Deputy Registrars
Associations has passed a resolution at their annual meeting
requesting the administrative fees for drivers licenses, boats,
snowmobiles, and ATV' s be increased to $3 .50.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RES4LVED, that the City of Rosemount supports
legislation that wilT increase the administ�ative fees to $3 .50 for
all services provided by Deputy Registrars in Minnesota.
BE I'T FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Cit�r of Rosemount encourages the
Association of Minnesota Counties (AMC) to adopt a similar policy as
part of their legislative program for 1993 .
ADOPTED this 2nd day of February, 1993 .
