The city council at their December 15, 1992 council meeting approved an
increase of benefits for retiring firefighters from $1400 to $1600 per
year. This increased calls for an amendment to the bylaws and approval by
the members of the relief association. Members of the relief association
approved the amendment at their February 23, 1993 meeting. The bylaws
require Council ratification of any amendments.
Attached for your review and consideration is Article VIII, Section 6,
which addresses the $1600 yearly pension amount.

A member who wishes to be placed on the deferred pension i
roll, shall submit to the Board of Trustees an application i
for benefits form, within ��30 (THIRTY) days of resignation ,
from said fire department. The Board of Trustees shall then
determine the "years of service" on said fire department, and �
determine the amount of pension payable to the member. The
member will then be notified by the Secretary as to the
amount of gension benefit. During the time that a member is
on the deferred pension roll, he shall continue to pay dues, ,,
and will not be eligible to receive any benefits provided for I
