The membership feels that it is necessary to add to the number of firefighters that we currently have. The Membership Committee currently has 10 applications on file. If approval is received to add 4 additional people to the fire department and incur the associated medical expenses, aur intent would be to test the 10 applicants with an agility test, written test, and oral interview and rank them accordingly. The top 4 candidates would be sent to Dr. Detlefsen' s office for a fire department employment physical . -0ur intent would be to hire all 4 persans if they receive approval from our fire department physician. The names of those 4 candidates which are ultima.tely successful at all phases of the testing process will be brought back to yau at a later date for your approval. Money for this initial medical screening and subsequent follow-up with hepatitis B series vaccinations has been budgeted in Account #101-42210-01-306 . The cost for fire department pre=employment physicals is $600 .00 per firefighter and the hepatitis B series vaccinations is $200 .00 . The total cost per firefighter is $800 . 00 . At the present time, the total medical expenditure to process 4 firefighters would be $3 ,200 . 00 . RECQI+�Il�IENDED ACTION: Motion to authorize the fire department to spend $3, 200 . 00 for the medical expenses associated with the hiring of 4 probationary firefighters with this expenditure coming from Account #101-42210-01-306 .
