At the Council meeting of Ma.rch 16, 1993, Council approved e job
description and hiring process for the position of a part-time Parks
Programmer.
Prior to the advertising for this position Lacelle Cordes has expressed her
interest in filling that position.
Lacelle' s background with our department is in seasonal employment serving
as an intern with us in parks programming, and her present employment as
the part-time Assistant Athletic Program Director. She has a double major
from Mankato State University in Urban Studies and in Recreational
Administration.
Because of the qualifications and proven performance with our department I
am recommending Lacelle Cordes to be approved in the position of part-time
Parks Programer. Ms. Cordes would start at the bottom of the A - Range at
a rate of $9 .61 per hour and move to $11.21 over a period of eighteen
months.
If Council approves the promoting of Lacelle Cordes, I am recommending that
Wendy Foreman be approved to the position of part-time Assistant Athletic
Frogram Director. Wendy has worked for our department during one summer as
a. seasonal parks ma.intenance person. Following that season she has warked
for Lisa Jost in recreational programming. She has most recently assisted
our department on a part-time basis by filling in for one of our staff
members who was on ma.ternity leave.
Ms. Foreman will be graduating from the University of Minnesota shortly
with a degree in Public Recreation. She would start at the bottom of the
A - Range at a rate of pay of $8 .16 per hour and progress to $9 .52 after
eighteen months.
Note: Salary adjustments are based upon the 1992 rates, increases only
after performance evaluations, both positions (33) hours per week.
RECOb�NDED ACTION: MOTION TO APPROVE THE HIRING OF LACELLE CORDES AS
THE PARKS PROGRAMMER AT A SALARY OF $9 . 61 FER HOUR EFFECTIVE
APRIL 7, 1993 AND WENDY FOREMAN AS THE ASSISTANT ATHLETIC PROGR.AM
DIRECTOR AT A SALARY OF $8 .16 PER HOUR, EFFECTIVE APRIL 7, 1993,
SUBJECT TO MS. FOREMAN PASSING A PRE-EMPLOYMENT PHYSICAL.
