This is a request to consider funding a portion of the cost to allow a
change order in the construction of the Armory/Community Center.
This item would allaw the placement of brick in a portion of the lobby of
the Armory and Community Center.
When the project was bid the specifications called for alternate' bids for
the placement of brick over concrete block in the lobby area which will be
shared by the City and the National Guard. The alternate allowed for the
placement of brick in an area 4 foot high or all of the way and then also
allowed the choice of p�tting it in just the City portion, the Guard side
or both.
The bid submitted to place it more than 4 foot high in the Guard' area was
$89 , 000 . This was rejected because it was too high. This was PCL' s bid.
Other bids ranged from $9 , 000 to $20, 600 . The contractor has been asked ta
pzovide a price quote now and he has agreed to do it at the $2-0, 600.
This cost would have to be born by the State and the City since it is a
��local�� cost and the federal government would not help pay for it.
If this is not added there will be a break between the City and the Guards
side of the lobby since the City has chosen to have the brick on its side.
The cost to the City would be half of the $20, 600 or $10, 300 .
RECONII�iENDED ACTION:
Motion to approve the change order to add brick to the lobby area of
the Armory with the City paying half of the cost or $10, 300 .
