The week of October 4th through October 10th is recognized nationally
as Fire Prevention Week. The importance of public awareness and
education cannot be emphasized enough. The Fire Department has
activities planned through out National Fire Prevention Week
encouraging residents of Rosemount to participate at home, work and
school.
We would like Mayor McMenomy to Proclaim the week of October 4-10,
1992 as "National Fire Prevention Week" stressing the importance of
fire safety.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Mayor McMenomy to read the National Fire
Prevention Week Proclamation.

WHEREAS, about 1/3 Of the homes equipped with smoke detectors in
them have detectorsthat are nonoperational, most often due to
dead or missing bat eries; and
WHEREAS, testing sm�ke detectors is easy and should be done
regularly to ensure effectiveness; and
WHEREAS, every home should have a smoke detector on each level,
including the basem nt, and outside each sleeping area; and
WHEREAS, smoke Bete ctors are not interchangeable with heat
detectors, which can be used in kitchens, bathrooms and other
locations where smoke detectors are not recommended; and
WHEREAS, all member of the household should be able to recognize
the sound of the sm ke detector alarm and know how to respond;
and
WHEREAS, the Fire D partment of the City of Rosemount is
dedicated to the sa ety of life and property from the devastating
effects of fire; an
WHEREAS, those members of the Rosemount Fire Department are
joined by other concerned citizens of the City, as well as
businesses, schools service clubs and organizations in their
fire prevention efforts; and
