This item is a'request for approval of attendance at the International
Conference of Building Officials (ICBG) Annual business meeting in
Dallas, Texas, August 30 -September 4 1992.
This annual business meeting is an educational and code development
conference The educational program includes sessions on Americans
with Disabilities Act '(A.D.A.) requirements, Building Officials and
politics, conflict resolution, how to handle angry citizens, public
awareness and image enhancement, and measuring Staff productivity.
The code change session is open floor debate and voting on changes in
language and content of the Uniform Building Code. It provides a very
good opportunity for local jurisdictions like us to have 'input into
code development and changes.
I have personally benefited and I think our inspection and enforcement
program has benefited from my ,attendance of the annual business
meetings in the past.
The cost of the conference including transportation, lodging,; meals
and registration will not exceed $1,150. This conference has been
budgeted for in the 1992 budget.
_RECOMMENDED ACTION. MOTION TO AUTHORIZE THE BUILDING OFFICIAL TO
ATTEND THE ANNUAL ICBO CONFERENCE IN DALLAS, TEXAS, AUGUST 30, 1992 -
SEPTEMBER 4, 1992, AND NOT TO EXCEED $1,150.
