Armory / Community Center UpdateCITY OF ROSEMOUNT EXECUTIVE SUMMARY FOR ACTION CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: AUGUST 18, 1992 AGENDA ITEM: ARMORY / COMMUNITY CENTER AGENDA SECTION: PROJECT UPDATE OLD BUSINESS PREPARED BY: STEPHAN JILK, CITY ADMINISTRATOR AGENDA N4TEM ATTACHMENTS: BID RESULTS, DESCRIPTION OF BIDD BY: ITEMS, TOP 3 BIDS 1" On August 13th at 2:00 P.M. bids were received and opened for the construction of the National Guard Armory and Community Center "add-ons" to the project. These bids are being tabulated and a complete report on the bids will be available on Monday. Based on these bids it appears that the cost of the arena would be higher than estimated by quite a bit. It is not possible at this time to give you exact dollar amounts relating to the arena since there are some alternates in the bids that will be shared, in cost between the City and the State, which may have some effect on the total cost associated with all of the city add-ons. The bids were provided in a "package" and so the apparent low bidder may not be the final low bidder if some of the alternate bids are removed. Since the two low bid packages are so close we may not know who will get the contract until decisions are made on which alternates are chosen. The National Guard and the architects are tabulating the bids, reviewing them and breaking down the city, state and federal share by the established percentages which each party is required to pay under law and the portions of the project specifically requested by each party which will establish responsibility for costs. I hope to have that information by Monday and will provide that information to you and other committees as appropriate. Please do not consider the individual items and associated costs as final at this point. The bids give us a "pretty good idea" of where we are at now but there is still much review and discussion by both the City and the State before we can get a final number to work with. I will provide any additional information I can on this matter at the meeting on Tuesday. RECOMMENDED ACTION: None.
