This item is a request to spend $2,060 to purchase three hand-held radios
and one ear microphone. This purchase would be part of our gradual
upgrading of our older radio equipment. We currently have two hand-held
radios in the shop being repaired and the service technician indicated that
we should seriously consider replacement as these two radios have
definitely exceeded their life expectancy and the cost to keep them in
service is beginning to far outweigh their value.
The radios we are interested in purchasing are on the state fire purchasing
consortium bid at a cost of $510 per radio and $405 for the ear microphone
with all the necessary equipment to make them compatible. The three hand-
held radios and the ear microphone including tax would cost $2,060, and
money has been budgeted in Account #101-42210-01-323 and #329 for this
purchase during 1992.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Motion to authorize the fire department to spend $2,060 for the purchase
for the above mentioned communication equipment from Account
#101-42210-01-323 and #329.
