This item is a request for authorization to proceed and engage the services
of American Test Center to test the aerial ladder and all of the ground
ladders in the fire department. Periodic testing of these ladders is
required to guarantee safety.
Besides this local firm that could provide this service, the next closest
company would be out of the Chicago area. They were contacted and their
prices were comparable to the local companies, but then of course they
would have to charge mileage and travel time. For that reason, we opted to
go with American Test Center at a cost of $1,029 to test the aerial
platform and the 11 ground ladders which we have.
Money for testing of this type was anticipated and budgeted in Account
#101-42210-01-310.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Motion to allow the•fire department to engage the services of American
Test Center to test all of the ground ladders and the aerial platform
at a cost of $1,029 with monies to come from Account #101-42210-01-310.
