This item is a requ st for authorization to proceed with repairs to our backup pumper (3 1518 ). During a routine inspection which was being conducted by our fi eiighters, it was determined that the brakes on this vehicle had gone ou This particular pumper is 27 years old. As was mentioned several t mes in the annual and semi-annual reports of the fire department, this ve icle should have been replaced a long time ago. We will be seeing more repairs of this type on this vehicle, even though the vehicle `is not used to a great extent due to its age and unreliability. Repairs were referred to the City mechanic, however, we were informed that repairs for the current problem, this time, would be above and beyond the scope of our mechanic's ability. Dean Sandstrom researched the repairs that would be necessary and has directed us to take the vehicle to Lakeland Ford. There estima ed cost to repair the vehicle would-be $423.76 plus tax. Monies were budget of fire department repairs that were particular line it department to go a to exceed the line 1992 in Account -#101-42210-01-229 for the outside repairs ehicles. However, due to the extensive amount of cessary on our aerial truck earlier in the year, this has been totally expended. Authorizing the fire ad with this expenditure would also be authorizing us tem budgeted amount and possibly exceed our budget for RECOBUdENDED ACTIO Motion to authori e the fire department to engage the services of Lakeland Ford and repair pumper 35182 at a cost of $423.76.
