On May 22, 1992 we opened bids on replacement of the Fire Hall roof
along with Well Houses #3 and #6.
The low base bid for the Fire Hall of $51,000 was reviewed for
accuracy and completeness. It was found to have no irregularities or
mistakes. Conversations with the bidder and their references proved
Water Tight Systems to be a responsible bidder. They are comfortable
with their bid even as it compares to other prices bid. They have bid
a Goodyear rubber 45 mil thick EPDM roofing system with a 10 year
warranty with no dollar limit for replacement.
We have budgeted $26,000 for this roof replacement. The additional
$25,000 needed for the project is proposed to come from the C.I.P.
reserve fund. The amount necessary for each of the Well Houses was
approved previously by the Utility Commission to come from the Water
Core Account.
Even though the bids were higher than what was budgeted they are
within 10's of the Architects estimate. The roof does leak and needs
repaired.
I feel that this is a -good bid, the company is responsible and
reliable and I would recommend awarding the bid to Water Tight Systems
of St. Cloud.
A Performance Bond equal to the amount of the contract is required and,
will be posted by the contractor.
