This item is before Council for approval to purchase 6 new PC's,
13 new network cards and one new printer. This purchase is
included in the CIP budget as part of the replacement program that
was instituted last year. As a reminder, last year we purchased
6 new PC's, which were all covered by 5 -year warranties. Following
this purchase policy, within 5 years all PC's in City service will
be covered under free warranty. As noted last year, to try and buy
maintenance protection of PC's is not cost efficient at all. Many
vendors will not even offer a maintenance service on the number of
PC's we have in inventory.
With the quotes that we have received from PC Express, I feel
comfortable in recommending the continuation of this program with
the purchase of the 6 new PC's, one printer and 13 network cards.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve the purchase of 6 new PC's, 13 network cards and 1 new printer
from PC Express for the total quoted price of $13,682.00.
Funding would come from the CIP budget account #202 -49002 -01 -586. -
