RE: Economic Resource Network Seminar
Attached find a copy of an announcement for an upcoming seminar
which I would', suggest Board members attend if they have an
opportunity.
There is no cost to attend and the subject looks very interesting.
I have called and reserved three spots for anyone to attend from
the City.
No action is necessary but I would ask that if anyone is willing
to attend that you let Linda Jentink (322-2003) know by Tuesday
evening.

Join with the Partners in Progress to learn about
and establish Economic Resource Networks
with other individuals interested in common
development issues.
What: Economic Resource Networks Workshop
When: Tuesday, June 23, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Where: Metrodome Hilton Hotel,
Hwy. 35W and Industrial Blvd., Minneapolis
Cost: Due to the department's strong support
of this program, the workshop and lunch
will be complements of DTED.
Economic Resource Networks (ERN)
Economic Resource Networks will provide individuals,
both staff and volunteers, with the opportunity to regularly
work with and share information, resources, ideas and
experience about economic development issues of common
interest Each network will address topics relating to a
specific subject area as designed by its members. It will
include learning opportunities as well as a framework for
building strategies dor implementation by members in their
communities. This networking support system encourages
strategic alliances and ongoing relationships among
communities. ERNS win complement local development
efforts by encouraging the proliferation and sharing of new
ideas and experience, and increasing the knowledge base
of members.
The Department of Trade and Economic Development
strongly supports the Economic Resource Networks.
DTED staff members will provide hands-on assistance in
the coordination of Sue network meetings, provide guest
speakers and resource materials. and assist with resource
connections across communities. Networks will meet d least
quarterly, with each network determining its own agendas and
meeting arrangements. Each member is responsible for
his/her direct costs which include travel, meats and
accommodations.
As a Result of Joining an
Economic Resource Network,

• heighten your economic development capabilities
through shared experience and resources
• gain a broader perspective from others who are dealing
with Ute some issues and challenges as your community
• gain access to highly qualified guest speakers and
resource materials enabling you to a network to
