Liability / Fire / Casualty Insurance Premium RebateCITY OF ROSEMOUNT EXECUTIVE SUMMARY FOR ACTION CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: DECEMBER 15, 1992 AGENDA ITEM: LIABILITY/EIRE/CASUALTY INSURANCE PREMIUM REBATE AGENDA SECTION: NEW BUSINESS PREPARED BY: STEPHAN JILK, CITY ADMINISTRATOR AGENDA *W-r#jir.M / ATTACHMENTS: NONE Y: zm: In a recent meeting with the City's insurance loss control advisor from Berkley Risk Services, Diana Korpela, our insurance program coordinator, and I, reviewed loss records. Part of this annual process is to discuss ways that the City can improve its loss/payment record and thus improve our insurance/claims program to reduce our insurance cost. I am pleased to advise the Council of several positive items resulting from that meeting. 1. The loss control advisor, Mr. Mike Everest, advised Diana that he was pleased with the excellent record keeping that Diana does which provides good "tracking" of claims and, in some cases, has assisted in denying claims. 2. The City's claims record is low, compared to average. 3. The City's refund for the 1991 premium year will be $21,733. This amounts to 25% of the City's premium for this insurance coverage. We budgeted a $15,000 refund. I believe these comments and resulting refund speak for themselves but I would like to publicly thank those responsible. RECOMMENDED ACTION Motion to thank Diana Korpela and other City staff for their efforts in managing the City's insurance and loss control program which provided for the $21,733 return in premium.
