WALSH, CITY CLERK AGENDA ITEM ATTACB32NTS: COUNTY RESOLUTION ADOPTING NEW APPROVED B DAKOTA COUNTY COMMISSIONER DISTRICTS V I will briefly review with you the new Dakota County Commissioner Districts which were approved by the County Board on April 16, 1992. RECObSIENDED ACTION: NONE COUNCIL ACTION: t BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS DAKOTA COUNTY, MINNESOTA DATE April 16, 1992 Motion by Commissioner Turner RESOLUTION NO. 92-307 Seconded by Commissioner Loeding WHEREAS, the Dakota County Board of Commissioners is required to adopt a Redistricting Plan for the County pursuant to Minn. Stat. 375.025; and WHEREAS, the Dakota County Board on March 24, 1992, announced its intention to expand the Dakota County Board to a seven -member governing body, effective January 1, 1993; and WHEREAS, the statutory requirements for publication of intent to consider and adopt a Redistricting Plan for the County have been met; and WHEREAS, a Special County Board Meeting was scheduled to be held on Thursday, April 16, 1992, at 9:00 A.M., in the Board Room, Dakota County Administration Center, to adopt a Redistricting Plan; and WHEREAS, a proposed redistricting option has been selected by the Dakota County Board and presented for purposes of community and public review and comment on April 16, 1992; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Minn. Stat. 375.025, the Redistricting Plan adopted by the County Board must be placed on file with the County Auditor; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Minn. Stat. 375.025, the County Board must decide which members of the County Board shall be elected in 1992 for twoandfour year terms so as to provide for staggered terms on the County Board NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Dakota County Board of Commissioners adopts the following Redistricting Plan for Dakota County Commissioner District Numbers One through Seven, to be effective in accordance with the terms of Minn. Stat. 375-025, elections are required to be held in 1992 for Dakota County Commissioner Districts 1, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That pursuant to Minn. Stat. 375.025, the members of the County Board to be elected in 1992 in commissioner Districts 1, 3, 5 and 7 shall be elected for four year terms and the members of the County Board elected in 1992 in Commissioner Districts 4 and 6 shall be elected for two year terms; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That pursuant to Minn. Stat. 375-025, an election is not required in District 2 and the incumbent will continue to serve until expiration of the existing term on December 31, 1994; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this Resolution be forwarded to the Secretary of State, the Dakota County Legislative Delegation, and Dakota County Cities and Townships.
