Dear Mr. Jilk:
NJOEL A. SUTTER
DIRECTOR OF SUPPORT SERVICES
Last November, Dr. Rehwaldt sent you a letter summarizing the proposed uses
and arrangements for the new police services levy that school districts were
allowed to make for the 1992-93 fiscal year. All five of the cities in which
we have -schools indicated that they agreed with the proposed uses and
arrangements. Therefore, we directed our attorneys to formalize the terms in
the letter by drafting the attached agreement between the school district and
the city.
The only change between the November letter and this agreement is that we have
moved up the date of the first half payment from September to July; the second
half of the funds will be paid in January.
We will ask our school board to approve the agreements with all five cities at
their May 26 meeting. After that meeting, we will send you two signed copies
of the agreement. We will then ask you to have the mayor and city clerk sign
both copies, return one to us, and retain one for your files. (The enclosed
copy is for your information only; please do not obtain signatures on this
copy.)
You may be aware that the 1992 legislature extended the authorization for this
levy into future years. We intend to recommend that the school board certify
this levy each year. We would then anticipate adopting an agreement similar
to this one each year.
If you have any questions or concerns about the attached agreement, please let
me know as soon as possible.
