LAP �, The selection process to fill the position of Economic Development Coordinator has been completed.'- The Committee, made up of Mayor McMenomy, Port Authority Chair Dunn and myself have made our final selection and have offered the position, pending the approval of the Port Authority and the City Council, to Mr. John Miller. Mr. Miller brings some thirteen years of experience in the public sector to Rosemount. Mr. Miller's most recent experience was with the City of Lino Lakes, a city which has many similarities to Rosemount. John was the City Planner and Economic Development Coordinator for Lino Lakes. Prior to that John worked for the City of Maple Grove as the City Planner/Administrative Assistant to the City Administrator. John also spent ten years working in the St Cloud area, eight years as Executive Director to the St. Cloud Area Council of Governments and two years as the Planning Director to the City of St. Cloud. John has extensive experience in the field of Economic Development, both in the technical areas as well as project management.. His experience in working with developers and appointed/elected boards is broad. Checking John's references proved that he is well respected and has shown significant successes in economic development for the agencies he has worked for. The interview committee recommends the hiring of John Miller to fill the position of Economic Development Coordinator at a startingsalary of $46,400 per year, with two weeks of vacation accumulated and with a six month probation period plus all other benefits normally allowed to full time city employees contingent upon Mr. Millers successful completion of an employment physical. Mr. Millers starting date would be June 17. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to authorize the hiring of Mr. John Miller to the position of Economic Development Coordinator at `a starting salary of $46,400 and two weeks vacation accrual upon the completion of a successful employment physical and driver's license check.
