Back in February the City Council awarded the manufacturing of a hose
reel and bed to LaHass Corporation for the City's Fire Department in
the amount of $9,197.00. Since then LaHass has run into financial
trouble. Staff sent LaHass a letter to see if after reorganization of
the Company's financial status they could still manufacture this item.
After a months time Staff sent LaHass another letter cancelling our
agreement because of no response to the first letter
After looking back to the bid tabulation sheet, Truck Utilities was
the next lowest bidder, however Truck Utilities did not follow`
procedures stated in the bid specifications by failing to send us
diagrams or schematics of their product. Truck Utilities net bid was
$10,704.00.
Staff's recommendation is to award the bid to the next lowest
responsible bidder, J -Craft, in the amount of $11,115.00 for the
manufacturing of the hose reeland bed for the City's Fire Department
Staff has contacted J -Craft and attached is a copy of the bid
tabulation, also J -Craft's letter of acceptance if the Council awards
the bid to them.
Council will note that the combination of J -Craft's bid of $11,115.00
for the hose reel and bed, and Superior Ford's bid for the truck and
chassis of $17,816.00, is a total of $28,931.00 The estimated C.I.P.
amount was $40,000, a savings of $11,069.00.

Per your request, we have reviewed our quotation to the City for
the aluminum flatbed/hose reel unit, and will honor the quoted
figures as shown on the proposal.
We do request written confirmation of order in the form of a P.O.
or letter.
Our current lead time on new product is running at the 5-6 week
level. Out last conversation with the supplier of the Hannay Reel
was at a 4-6 week lead time.
If these terms meet your approval, we will look forward to receipt
of your purchase order.
