Job Description
APP VE BY:
Nick Polta has very effectively served the City as an Engineering
intern during the last 20 months while attending the University of
Minnesota. Nick graduated in December of 1991 and has accepted a
position of Project Engineer with a local firm as of May 8, 1992.
His leaving has created a void in the Public Works Department.
As described in detail in the attached Job Description, the Intern
position is provided a broad exposure to the various aspects of an
engineering department while providing valuable assistance. The
Intern position is trained in assessment searches, data collection,
such as surveying, traffic studies and topographical data; map
preparation; construction documents such as plans & specifications;
and construction observations. The training is accomplished by hands
on responsibility for completion of assigned tasks.
The Intern position has historically been filled by upper classmen of
the University of Minnesota or other accredited engineering schools.
Having nearly completed their courses of study, they have the
knowledge to step in and accept the responsibilities with moderate
supervision.
This is a budgeted position. It has been budgeted for .through
December 31, 1992 at $8.00/hr including the required P.E.R.A.
withholdings.
I would anticipate the process to take two to three weeks to complete.
I am hopeful to come back to you at the last meeting in June with a
recommendation for your approval.
