APRIL 21, 1992 AGENDA ITEM: PARKS & RECREATION INTERN AGENDA SECTION: NEW BUSINESS PREPARED BY: DAVID J. BECHTOLD, AGENDA 11M # 6C DIRECTOR DIRECTOR OF PARKS & RECREATION ATTACM1ENTS : NONE AP Y Funding was allocated in the Parks budget for general assist Ze in the area Professional Services Account #319. The total dollar amount is $3,750. At this time I am requesting Council to consider approving those funds to be expended for a general intern to work with me on park related projects. Of main concern at this time are the projects related to qualifying for Tree City USA, bringing the grant project and materials for Jaycee Park up to date, work to become active in projects relating to the Tree Trust Programs, etc.. Other assistance could be given to research on possible general grant proposals and to assist with compiling information and completing Erickson Community Square and Carrolls Woods projects. The main role of the intern would be to assist the Parks & Recreation Director on general aspects of park projects for this summer. Lacelle Cordes has worked for the Recreation Department for the past few summers. Her major at Mankato State University is Parks & Recreation Management. she is excited about the possibility of working in our department again in the capacity of an intern. We have agreed upon a salary of $6.00 per hour for this general internship program. The internship would start in early June and would be for a maximum of 17 weeks with a 40 hour per week schedule. RECOIDNDED ACTION: Motion to authorize the employment of Lacelle Cordes in the internship program for the Parks Department with salary to come from account 101-45100-01-319. COUNCIL ACTION:
